Why does the Sales return show error ‘stock not found’ ?

Cause:
Sales return done of the item which was despatched shows error ‘Stock Not Found’ or ‘Stock Not Found for entered Lot Sl’ when the specified item does not exist in the stock records. This can happen when stock options are changed in item master before return of the item. Hence the system is unable to find the stock which was despatched.

Suggestions:
The System has a provision to define how a stock should be maintained of an item . This definition is in the item master as Stock Option field, which is mandatory. It’s a predefined flag for Inventory control. Possible values are 0 – Not stock maintenance, 1 – Item wise stock maintenance and 2 – Lot wise stock maintenance. This field should not be changed after the item is used in transaction. Users have to ensure that item maintenance is not changed on the item once the item is in flow.
