Why do we use work order enhancement ?

Explanation:
Work order enhancement is done to change the batch size of an already released workorder,
i.e. the Manufacturing process has already started. The enhancement can be done in any operation of the Manufacturing process.
The process enhancement can be done by adding quantity of same or some other item in the process. These items must be available in Inventory. If the batch size is changed in the subsequent stages of production, the material requirement will also differ than that calculated at the time of firm plan. In order to meet the additional requirement, the system automatically changes the work order bill. However, it does not do re-allocation of the items as it is done at the time of material issue. The BOM specified in the work order being enhanced is used to calculate the additional material requirement for subsequent operations.
When a recovery is to be added using “work order enhancement”, the increased batch size may be different from the batch size specified in the BOM for the work order being enhanced. This is because the recovery being added may already contain raw materials in it. In a parallel process, if recovery is added, the work order bill gets recalculated from next operation level, which can be defined in the enhancement. This is because the Recovery addition process does not affect other parallel process. In one enhancement there can be multiple items can be enhanced. All the items that need to be issued to enhance the batch should be defined in the detail screen of work order enhancement. System validates that the item, lot, lot serial are available in the Inventory. Multiple lines can be used to specify different lots of same item or different items.
