Explanation
This is the most important activity before starting the Manufacturing module, transaction processing such as work order in the system.
The following Masters must be defined else you may not be able to complete a particular transaction in Manufacturing module.
1) Item – Definition of various finished products, raw materials, packing materials ( Menu Path – SCM -> SCM Settings -> Masters -> Item Setup -> Item )
2) Bill of Material (BOM) – Listing of standard raw and packing materials and it’s quantity to be issued to production in order to manufacture the specified quantity of finished product. It also includes the process route, i.e. the activities to be carried out in a sequential manner for the production of that item.
( Menu Path – Manufacturing – > Manufacturing Setup -> Masters -> Product Structure -> Bill of Material )
3) Site – Definition of a particular plant / factory. (Menu Path – System -> System Setup -> Masters -> Site )
4) Siteitem – Definition of the items manufactured / used in a particular plant / factory. In case of a finished product, the BOM to be used must also be defined in this master.
